In the United States, EDF Group is present in the U.S. nuclear power sector, develops renewable energy projects and has a dedicated R&D team that works on developing advanced energy solutions. Also EDF’s activities include cooperation with U.S. institutions and power companies.

The EDF Group is a stakeholder in several companies in the North-American market.



CENG is a joint venture between Constellation Energy and EDF Group. CENG is one of the U.S. premier nuclear power plants owners and operators, demonstrating that nuclear power is reliable, cost-effective and environmentally-friendly. CENG’s nuclear power strategy balances the present with the future and continuously works to safely improve production at its five operating nuclear units. CENG operates five reactors at three sites – Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power in Lusby, Md.; Ginna Nuclear Power Plant in Ontario, N.Y.; and Nine Mile Point Nuclear Stations in Scriba, N.Y.

A Constellation Energy and EDF Group joint venture since 2007, Unistar Nuclear Energy will provide the framework to enable the joint development, deployment, ownership and operation for new nuclear energy facilities in the U.S..

A 100% EDF Energies Nouvelles subsidiary since 2002, enXco develops, builds, and operates renewable energy projects throughout the United States and Canada. It is a leading player in the North American wind energy market with close to 1 GW of gross installed capacity at the end of 2009. In addition, enXco’s service team, operating as enXco Service Corporation, is the largest third-party Operating & Maintenance provider for wind farms in North America, with over 4,200 MW under contract. enXco solar developments include a total of 30 MW of solar PV installations completed or under construction at the end of 2009.

EDF Trading North America is one of the largest providers of market services to the wholesale gas and power sectors in North America, specializing in energy logistics and asset optimization.

EDF is a member of the NuStart Energy Development LLC consortium since its inception in 2004, under a Department of Energy’s initiative. Comprised of major U.S. nuclear players, the consortium aims to demonstrate the efficiency of the new U.S. combined Construction and Operating Licensing process (COL) and to complete the design engineering for the two selected reactor technologies (Westinghouse’s AP 1000 and General Electric’s ESBWR).
